Resources for couples

Couple

Recommended resources & tools for couples or those working on relationship goals:

The tools I recommend for couples are often similar, so I wanted a place I could highlight these resources for you. Please keep in mind not all couples will need or use all of these tools. A couple looking for pre-marital information is not going to use the same resources as a couple navigating boundaries with parents or contemplating having a baby. This is even more true if there is a true hurdle the couple is facing.

Attached’ by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller, a guide for couples on understanding attachment theory in relationships

Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find and Keep Love

Peter Levine M.D. & Rachel S. F. Heller, M.A.

While this isn't my favorite book if you are going through a break-up or beginning to date this is a good resource. I might also recommend this to a premarital couple.

This is an older book, and it shows. Still it is a great primer for codependency and beginning to set boundaries.

The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work

John M. Gottman, PH.D, & Nan Silver

John and Julie Gottman are the foremost experts and researchers on relationships of our day. While their research is not perfect and has limitations I would recommend this book if you are considering dating, dating someone, engaged, or married. It handles basics of relationships, and with tweaks can even be applied in families.  â€‹â€‹
